I Had To…Just Do It!

Don’t let anyone tell you your dreams are too big! Competing for me wasn’t just something I wanted to do but something I had to do. It was a huge dream that I couldn’t shake; despite the excuses I made, or the comments I heard. I still had the desire to make my dream a reality. I promised myself that this was the year that I wasn’t going to accept or create any more excuses and…just do it!

I took this picture three months ago to this date, and in the beginning of my journey, I hated taking these pictures. Nothing about them excited me and as you can see, I wasn’t smiling at ALL. I told Warren to hurry up, and make sure you get me at a good angle…like it really mattered, lol. Realistically, there were no good or perfect angles and I didn’t feel horrible about my body…but I was my biggest critic. Not just on this day but week after week. I continuously found things I needed to work harder in improving. It wasn’t until two months in, I remembered the purpose of the pictures. They weren’t to show how perfect was, but to display the progress of how I’ve grown.

It’s about progress, not perfection.

I made notable growth, week after week. I no longer started critiquing myself on what I didn’t like but appreciating what I did. I changed my thinking about what real progress was and the process it took to get there. Real progress isn’t just about growing physically but mentally as well. I grew mentally in how I saw dieting, training, and the overall picture of…who I was and who I wanted to be.

I wanted to be better than who I was before, but most importantly, I wanted to accomplish my goal. Three days ago I had my first bikini competition and I can’t wait to share with you the details of it all but until then. Remember, no matter where you begin, you can get to where you want to be! Be courage, be bold, and don’t be afraid to “just do it”! Thanks for reading and #SimplyBE!
